Silicon-based
mmWave technology is a key enabler for the next generation communications and
sensing. For the widespread adoption of the technology, the fundamental
challenges posed by the limited performance of silicon devices and circuits need
to be addressed. In the first part of the talk, I will introduce new IC design
concepts based on physics-inspired design and new systematic approach,
presenting a distributed Miller effect true-time delay line and a
reconfigurable 60- GHz radar front-end. In the second part of the talk, I will
discuss a scalable dual[1]polarization 94-GHz phased array ICs and their
module-level integration with antennas-in-package for a 3-D real-time radar
application. I will also briefly discuss ongoing research activities and future
directions.
